This project was an optical phased array LiDAR unit, created over the course of multiple years at a previous place of employment. I was the engineering liaison & lead for externally contracted optical design for the free-form surface that was necessary to properly collimate the optical phased array.
I lead the mechanical design for various prototype level sensors, as well as the release sensors shown in the gallery below. My work included optimizing PCB & mechanical interfaces for heat-transfer; maintaining ease of assembly for high volume manufacturing; proper (detector) ROIC/SPAD light shielding, and tolerancing for optical alignment.
I also developed the test stations and software to map the phased array emitter angle to the detector ROIC region, and the software to generate the firmware mapping table.
